Enable
Enable is a NSW government scheme that covers the major portion of the cost of compression garments for lymphoedema, lipoedema and mixed or venous oedemas. It assists with the cost of 2 sets per body part impacted, particularly if you are on a pension ( your annual copayment is $100) or if the total cost of your garments is greater than $800 per year ( your copayment is usually 20%).
To qualify, you need to have tried the requested garments, be consistent with wearing them and found them to be effective. We submit an application each 6 months to confirm that this is still the case or modify the request as your progress requires.
Garments that provide ‘clinically appropriate compression’ are available through Enable if they have been trialled and proved to be effective. You can find the application form for clients here: https://www.enable.health.nsw.gov.au/forms/enable-application-form/enable-application-form
